Luyando lost his mother to a prolonged illness when he was three. His father has refused to take responsibility of him and his two siblings. They are currently in their late mother’s parents guardianship. Luyando’s grandparents are old and retired from any form of employment as a result their only source of income are the small rooms they rent out. Looking after six grandchildren hasn’t been easy for them especially in their frail state. Luyando should be in the second grade, but his grandparents cannot afford his education as well as the other younger grandchildren.
