Eyes with which we see
Recently I went to get my eyes checked and the visit reminded me of Sister Margaret in Zambia, Africa. Sister Margaret is an ophthalmic nurse provider who graciously invited us to spend the day with at her at her eye clinic.
Sister Margaret is cheerful, caring, knowledgeable, educational
and excited to help those with eye concerns.
She joined Hope’s Doorway medical mission trip in August 2019 providing eye care to those in need.
Educating us about the local eye health, Sister Margaret presented a nine-year-old child with bilateral cataracts. The child had been blind since early childhood because the child’s parents had no means to pay for the removal of the cataracts at a cost of fifty US dollars per eye.
Whether eye care is in Lusaka, Zambia with Sister Margaret or here in the United States, we are fortunate to have such great practitioners who help us continue seeing the beautiful world we live in.
