Child Sponsorship

No one person can do everything, but everyone can do something!

Child sponsorship is our central program, and we continue to support medical initiatives and educational opportunities in both rural and urban communities.

Your sponsorship of $45 a month ensures your sponsored child receives support through every phase of his or her young life. It provides basic necessities like sturdy shoes and clothing, school uniforms, tuition and school supplies, health care as well as medicine and nutritional support to help your child stay healthy.

Empowering Women Project

Hope’s Doorway’s partner Shield of Love help women learn a trade, so they can provide for their families, including the cost of schooling for their children. This program eliminates poverty by incorporating entrepreneurship, and it enhances knowledge of the sponsored children’s guardians.

Completion of Mutamino Village Classroom

Hope’s Doorway and Shield of Love worked together to bring the Mutamino Village classroom to completion in 2021. This building houses tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades. Thank you to the donors who brought this project to fruition and a special thanks to Pine Valley Church for their generous donation. Our next collaborative construction project is to build a community center in the rural village. We are currently fundraising for the first phase of the project to purchase land and install a borehole.

College Scholarship Program

Bridget Malakata and Esnart Banda are the first two sponsored students to attend college. Bridget is a special education teacher with expertise in sign language, and Esnart is studying to be a nurse. With continued support, more sponsored students that graduate high school will be able to pursue higher education.

Land and Borehole Fundraiser

With the success of our vehicle fundraiser, Hope’s Doorway and Shield of Love are now moving toward their next goal in 2025 to purchase land and install a borehole in a rural village in Chongwe. Many of our sponsored students live in rural villages, and they are without access to sufficient water and training facilities to further the expansion and sustainability of their community. The land purchased will become the construction site to build a community center that will house the library and training classrooms as well as become a central location for trade and commerce for the village.

Join Hope’s Doorway at the Bayfield Farmer’s Market this upcoming June 28th and July 26th. African art products will be available for donations, so we can fundraise to provide for more children in need.

We are collecting children’s clothing, children’s shoes, and large suitcases during these events, which the clothing and shoes will be distributed to our sponsored students during our upcoming August trip to Zambia. We use the large suitcases to bring supplies to Zambia as well as bring African art back to the states. Thank you for considering Hope’s Doorway!
