Hello, my name is Rosina and I am in grade 11.  I live with my mother and father in a family of five, I am the second born.    I have had difficulties in my life due to poverty that has hit my family due to father’s drinking. My dad also gets violent against mum, which makes me feel very bad. I wasn’t able to continue with school due lack of support as my mother’s roadside business collapsed because dad stole all her money.  It was at this point that I started thinking of getting marriage so I would escape poverty and be away from abusive dad. When LifeSavers came to Lukata with the ending child marriage and prostitution project, I learned about the consequences of getting marriage at my age. After attending workshops and counseling sessions, I realized the importance of education and that I can still live a better life.  In January of 2017, I decided to re-enter school. I am working very hard in school so I can be a Police Officer when I graduate, I just need support to continue.  Thank you.

Rosina is one of the original 23 students Hope’s Doorway supported out of child marriage and prostitution in 2017 and who has yet to have a sponsor.
